Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: Ordinance 1501-A6 CONSIDER APPROVAL <br />OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, CHAPTER 106, MORE COMMONLY <br />REFERRED TO AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, BY <br />GRANTING A SPECIAL CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT #SCU07-008 FOR THAT <br />CERTAIN PARCEL OF LAND DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS, TO-WIT: 0.8272 ACRE <br />TRACT IN THE W.J. PAYNE SUBDIVISION, W.M. JONES SURVEY, ABSTRACT 482, <br />LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEVELOPING A <br />MULTI-PURPOSE EVENT CENTER AT 10515 SPENCER HIGHWAY IN A PLANNED <br />UNIT DEVELOPMENT (PUD) ZONE; MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS OF FACT <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN <br />MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council member Ebow to approve ordinance 1501-A6 as <br />recommended by The Planning and Zoning Commission. Second by Council member <br />Beasley. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mayor Pro Tern Rigby, Moser, Beasley, Clausen, Engelken, Mosteit, Ebow and <br />Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Absent: Mayor Porter <br /> <br />9. Public Hearing - Council to conduct the first of two public hearings to receive public <br />comment prior to institution of proceedings to annex properties currently subject to the <br />Industrial District Agreements with the City. <br />fro . Council to discuss and nominate two individuals to the Municipal Solid Waste Management <br />and Resource Recovery Advisory Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern presented summary and answered Council's questions. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council member Clausen not to nominate to the Municipal Solid <br />Waste Management and Resource Recovery Advisory as recommended by Mayor Porter <br />Second by Council member Engelken. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mayor Pro Tern Rigby, Moser, Beasley, Clausen, Engelken, Mosteit, Ebow and <br />Malone. <br />
