While each of these intersections are important to the region two of them are, at least, currently
signalized (Shoreacres Boulevard and Red Bluff Road). The intersection of State Highway 146
at Wharton Weems Blvd. is a non-signalized intersection utilizing feeder roads for traffic
movement. The speeds and increased volume of north-south traffic at this unregulated
intersection have created a significant safety issue. Therefore, if the three intersections cannot
be funded, the Wharton Weems intersection certainly stands out as our number one choice.

These projects have already gone through TXDoT's corridor planning and public input process
and are currently under design. It is proj ected that they will be ready to bid in April 2009.
Essentially, they will be ready to go, but not fully funded.

We hope that you are able to assist us in securing these funds and again, thank you for this
invitation. We wish you well and thank you for your dedication and service. If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact our Assistant City Manager, John Joems, at 281-470-5012
or ioemsi@laportetx.gov.

Sincerely,

~y~

~

Councilman Howard Ebow
District 3

c' woman Georgia A.
