City Secretary Martha Gillett advised <br />the only persons requesting to speak were on public hearing items. <br /> <br />5. Public Hearing - Council to consider recommendation of Planning and Zoning Commission <br />to approve Special Conditional Use Permit (SCUP) Request #SCU08-003 for operating a <br />women's substance abuse recovery center in a Light Industrial Zone, at 942 South 14th <br />Street. <br /> <br />Open Public Hearing - Mayor Porter opened the Public Hearing at 6:05 p.m. <br /> <br />Planning Director Tim Tietjens presented summary and recommendation and answered <br />Council questions. <br /> <br />Public Input- The following citizens addressed Council: <br /> <br />Marie Meehan, Director of % House for Woman - spoke in favor of the request. <br /> <br />Diane Campbell - of Lutheran Church - spoke in favor of the request. <br /> <br />Theresa Bayer - member of Lutheran Church - spoke in favor of the request. <br /> <br />Connie Fortune - 309 S. Virginia - works for Alanon -- spoke in favor of the request. <br /> <br />Mary Cummings - teacher at La Porte Elementary - spoke in favor of the request. <br /> <br />The Public Hearing was closed at 6:23 p.m. <br /> <br />Recommendation of Planning and Zoning Commission - recommended approval of <br />Special Conditional Use Permit #SCU08-003 for operating a women's substance abuse <br />recovery center in a Light Industrial Zone, at 942 S. 14th Street. <br /> <br />6.
