Minutes of Regular Meeting and Workshop Meeting September 8, 2008 2 <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Engelken to table Item 6A on the consent agenda. <br />Councilmember Black seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Clausen, Rigby, Moser, Black, Malone, Engelken, and Porter. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Absent: Ebow <br />Councilmember Malone had a question on Item C. <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Engelken to approve the remainder of the consent <br />agenda as presented. Councilmember Malone seconded the motion. Petitions, Remonstrance's, Communications, Citizens and Tax Payers wishing to address <br />Council <br />Patricia Clark, 3817 Ashwood Circle — Ms. Clark noted concerns with Hotel Project at the <br />intersection of Fairmont and Driftwood. She said that it appears to have been abandoned. <br />She noted that there is no on -site security. She and many of the homeowners in her area <br />would like to see this project finished. <br />Kathryn Aguilar, 3119 Fondren — Ms. Aguilar noted ethics concerns with the City of La <br />Porte, and said that the city needs to adopt an Ethics Policy. Additionally, she would like <br />to see all contracts with the City of La Porte go through the competitive bidding process. <br />The bid process should also be open to the public for review. <br />Ted Powell, 1700 Roscoe — Mr. Powell noted ethics concerns regarding the City, and said <br />that the city needs an Ethics Policy. He asked City Council to put an end to the Town <br />Square Project. He also noted he visited the Pavilion at Sylvan Beach and noted many <br />areas where extensive maintenance and repairs are needed. <br />Jim Zoller, 907 Hackberry — Mr. Zoller spoke against the joint venture park, and voiced his <br />concerns with the two day notice of the project, he said that wasn't enough time to allow <br />residents to discuss. He said his subdivision would lose income by reducing the value of <br />deed restrictions and the loss of homeowner's dues. <br />7. Council to consider approval or other action of a Resolution opposing any legislative action <br />that would change existing sales tax laws from origin to destination -based sourcing (Res. <br />2008-10) — R. Bottoms <br />City Manager Ron Bottoms presented summary and recommendations and answered <br />Councils' questions. <br />
