<br />Minutes of Special Called Regular Meeting and Workshop of the La Porte City Council held on May 18, 2009 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins presented summary and recommendations and <br />answered Councils' questions. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read Ordinance 3146, AN ORDINANCE DECLARING <br />THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE ON MAY 9, 2009, <br />FOR THE ELECTION OF A MAYOR, COUNCILPERSON DISTRICT 2, AND <br />COUNCILPERSON DISTRICT 3, FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Mosteit to approve Ordinance 3146 as presented by <br />Mr. Askins. Councilmember Ebow second. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Engelken, Ebow, Malone, Moser, Rigby, Clausen and Porter <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Absent: Black <br /> <br />6. Presiding Judge Denise Mitrano administered Oaths of Office to the newly appointed <br />Mayor Barry Beasley, District 2 Councilmember Chuck Engelken and District 3 <br />Councilmember Daryl Leonard. <br /> <br />7. Mayor Beasley presented an Appreciation Plaque to Mayor Porter for his dedicated service <br />during the terms of office he held. <br /> <br />8. Mayor Beasley presented an Appreciation Plaque to Councilmember Ebow for his <br />dedicated service during the terms of office he held. <br /> <br />9. Consent Agenda - Any item may be removed by a Councilperson for discussion <br /> <br />A. Council to consider approval or other action regarding a Hazardous Materials <br />Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) Planning Grant - J. Suggs <br /> <br />B. Council to consider approval or other action authorizing the City Manager to <br />execute an agreement between the City of La Porte and La Porte Main Properties, <br />Inc. to facilitate the sale of up to four homes in the Northside Neighborhood <br />Program, and appropriating a sum of up to $19,700.00 for said purpose (Ord. <br />3147) - 1. Council to consider approval or other action authorizing a contract for material <br />testing, authorizing the expenditure of excess funds budgeted for street <br />maintenance purposes, for the City-Wide Asphalt Overlay Project - S.
