<br />Minutes of Regular Meeting and Workshop Meeting of La Porte City Council on February 8,2010 <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />Ordinance 3220 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND FINEFAIR, INC., A TEXAS BUSINESS <br />CORPORATION, D/B/A PORT AUTO TRUCK STOP, REGARDING TRUCK TRAFFIC ON <br />A PORTION OF NORTH 8TH STREET IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE; MAKING VARIOUS <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Ordinance 3221 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 70, "TRAFFIC AND <br />VEHICLES", ARTICLE VI, "TRUCK ROUTES AND GROSS WEIGHT LIMITS" BY <br />AMENDING SECTION 70-231, "DESIGNATION", BY ADDING NORTH 8TH STREET, <br />FROM BARBOURS CUT BOULEVARD, TO A POINT 300 HUNDRED FEET NORTH OF <br />THE NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF BARBOURS CUT BOULEVARD; PROVIDING <br />THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE <br />DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED <br />IN A SUM NOT TO EXCEED FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS; CONTAINING A REPEALING <br />CLAUSE; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION <br />OF THE CAPTION HEREOF; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Leonard to approve the consent aoenda items A-G <br />and I as presented. Second by Councilmember Engelken. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Engelken, Rigby, Moser, Black, Leonard, Mosteit, Clausen and Mayor Beasley <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Absent: None <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Enoelken to table item H on the consent aoenda and <br />brino back to a future meetino. Second by Councilmember Black. Petitions, Remonstrance's, Communications, Citizens and Tax Payers wishing to address <br />Council on any item posted on the agenda (Limited to five minutes) <br /> <br />Kathryn Aguilar - 3119 Fondren - Ms. Aguilar informed the Council she does not agree <br />with tax abatements. She also advised the Council she would like to see restrooms at the <br />Town Plaza and Sylvan Beach areas. <br /> <br />Ted Powell-1700 Roscoe - Mr. Powell informed the Council he is opposed to item Hand <br />tax abatements. He advised Council that "white papers" need to be included in the review <br />of this item. <br />
