Minutes of Regular Meeting, Public Hearing and Workshop Meeting of La Porte City Council on March 8, 2010 6 <br />Office Manager Melisa Lanclos discussed a prescription card discount program. <br />Council directed staff to move forward. <br />B. Discuss changing East "A" from a two-way to a one-way street from Virginia Street <br />to San Jacinto Avenue - T. Tietjens/K. Adcox <br />Planning Director Tim Tietjens and Chief of Police Ken Adcox discussed changing <br />East "A" from a two-way to a one-way street from Virginia Street to San Jacinto <br />Avenue <br />Council directed staff to move forward and to place a speed limit sign at the turn <br />area. <br />Public Comments were continued at this point. <br />Phillip Hoot — 922 Seabreeze — Mr. Hoot informed Council the Klein Retreat, <br />Happy Harbor and Sylvan Beach area could be made into a dog park and offered <br />his assistance. <br />Ted Powell — 1700 Roscoe — Mr. Powell informed Council he would like to see <br />Happy Harbor and Klein Retreat properties become public park areas. He noted <br />opposition to item B on the workshop agenda. <br />Kathryn Aguilar — 3119 Fondren — Ms. Aguilar informed Council she agrees with <br />Mr. Powell and Mr. Hoot that the Happy Harbor and Klein Retreat properties would <br />enhance the quality of life if they were to become park areas. She agrees with the <br />concept of a dog park in the Sylvan Beach area as well. <br />C. Discuss process for disposing of surplus properties — J. Joerns <br />Assistant City Manager John Joerns discussed process for disposing of surplus <br />properties. <br />Council asked staff to do further research and assessment and bring back to a <br />future meeting. <br />D. Discuss La Porte Anti -Litter Campaign— S. Barr <br />Director of Parks and Recreation Stephen Barr discussed La Porte Anti -Litter <br />Campaign. <br />Council directed staff to move forward and to check on liability insurance related to <br />this event. <br />15. Close Workshop Meeting and reconvene Regular Meeting <br />
