Councilmember Moser commented if there are no complaints from neighbors, there is no urgency. <br />Mayor Rigby then asked Council whether they have some direction to provide to staff. <br />Councilmember Moser commented to let the blue tarps remain another year with the same <br />standards as the previous year. <br />Councilmember Martin commented the City should move forward with code enforcement actions if <br />a home is vacant. <br />Councilmember Kaminski commented the owner of 514 S. Blackwell probably has the means to <br />repair the roof, but the City is not enforcing the issue. <br />Mayor Rigby directed staff to check with Lubrizol and Albemarle, and others, for possible <br />assistance, in addition to contacting homeowners; and report back at the next Council Meeting or a <br />meeting in March. <br />8. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS <br />(a) Receive report from City Manager <br />• La Porte Development Corporation Board Meeting, Tuesday, February 12, 2013 <br />• La Porte Area Water Authority Meeting, Tuesday, February 12, 2013 <br />• Special City Council Meeting, Monday, February 18, 2013 <br />• La Porte Wrecker Committee Meeting, Tuesday, February 19, 2013 <br />• Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting, Thursday, February 21, 2013 <br />• City Council Meeting, Monday, February 25, 2013 <br />City Manager Corby Alexander provided Administrative Reports, thanked everyone for their well <br />wishes during his medical procedure last week, informed Council of the Meet and Greet on <br />Tuesday, February 12, 2013, for the candidates of the Economic Development Coordinator position, <br />and advised he is planning a tour of streets in problematic areas within the city. <br />9. COUNCIL COMMENTS regarding matters appearing on the agenda; recognition of community <br />members, city employees, and upcoming events; inquiry of staff regarding specific factual <br />information or existing policies — Councilmembers Martin, Moser, Kaminski, Zemanek, Leonard, <br />Engelken, Mosteit, Clausen and Mayor Rigby. <br />Councilmember Martin expressed his thoughts and prayers to the Ortiz family for their loss during <br />the accident at Air Liquide and expressed gratitude to the Firefighters and First Responders; <br />Councilmember Zemanek thanked the Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services for their <br />hard work; Councilmember Leonard informed La Porte High School had several students <br />competing in the Skills USA Competition on Friday and Saturday; Councilmembers Mosteit and <br />Clausen welcomed City Manager Corby Alexander back and wished Finance Director Michael <br />Dolby well upon his return to work. Mayor Rigby shared he attended an event at La Porte <br />Community Church and seven Boy Scouts had received the Eagle Award. Mayor Rigby also <br />informed Council that he and Assistant City Manager Traci Leach met at the City of Shoreacres <br />with the Corps of Engineer and the company performing maintenance dredging on the Bayport <br />side. The presentation included a noise plan submitted by the company and the need to utilize <br />electricity to run the dredge and eliminate noise. Mayor Rigby advised an energy provider had <br />been obtained, and it was not the deepening and widening expected next year. <br />10.
