Councilperson Garza moved <br />that the Council oppose the Mayor's direction, which he termed as illegal. The motion did not receive a <br />second and was not considered. Councilperson Garza left the room. <br />2. INVOCATION β€” The invocation was given by Rev. Brian Christen, La Porte Community Church, and <br />pledges were led by Councilperson Jay Martin. <br />3. ELECTION MATTERS <br />a. Presentation, discussion, and possible action to adopt Ordinance 2021-3827 to canvass the <br />results of the May 1, 2021, general election for the purpose of electing a Mayor, a <br />Councilperson-District 2, and a Councilperson-District 3, and the special election for the <br />purpose of adoption or rejection of proposed amendments to the City of La Porte Charter. <br />[Louis R. Rigby, Mayor] <br />Mavor Pro Tern Enaelken moved the adoption of Ordinance 2021-3827 to canvass the results of <br />the May 1, 2021, general election for the purpose of electing a Mayor, a Councilperson-District 2 <br />and a COLinciiperson-District 3, and the special election for the purpose of adoption or resection of <br />DroDosed amendments to the Citv of La Porte Charter: the motion was seconded by Councilperson <br />Bentley; the motion was adopted, 7-0 <br />b. Swear in newly elected Councilpersons. [Louis R. Rigby, Mayor] <br />City Secretary Lee Woodward swore in the newly elected Mayor Louis R. Rigby, Councilperson- <br />District 2 Chuck Engelken, and Councilperson-District 3 Bill Bentley.
