Presentation, discussion, and possible action regarding proposed amendments to the La <br />Porte Home Rule Charter, as presented by the 2020 Charter Review Commission. [Mayor <br />Louis R. Rigby] <br />Commission Chair Kristin Martin reported on the work of the Commission and Commission <br />members were thanked by the Council for their service. Councilpersons made inquiries on the <br />recommendations. <br />b. Presentation, discussion, and possible action to adopt Ordinance 2021-3814, calling a <br />special election for proposed amendments to the La Porte Home Rule Charter, to be held <br />on May 1, 2021. [Louis R. Rigby, Mayor] <br />Mayor Pro Tern Engelken moved to adopt Ordinance 2021-3814 calling a special election for <br />proposed amendments to the La Porte Home Rule Charter, to be held on May 1 2021 including <br />modification to the proposed wording of Amendment U to change the text in Section 5 01(b)(1) of <br />the La Porte Charter to read if the thirty-first day of January is rather than if the first day of February <br />is; the motion was seconded by Councilperson Kendrick the motion was adopted 8-0 <br />c. Presentation, discussion, and possible action to adopt Ordinance 2021-3815, calling a <br />special election to fill a vacancy in the position of Councilperson-District 6. [Louis R. Rigby, <br />Mayor] <br />Mayor Pro Tern Engelken moved to select March 27, 2021 as the election date for the <br />Councilperson-District 6 special election to fill a vacancy and adopted Ordinance 2021- <br />3815 providing for the election; the motion was seconded by Councilperson Kendrick the motion <br />was adopted, 8-0. <br />6. REPORTS <br />a. Receive report of the Drainage and Flooding Committee meeting. [Councilperson Jay <br />Martin] <br />Councilperson Martin reported the Committee met and received updates on drainage concerns, <br />noting the next meeting would be February 8. <br />7. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS <br />• Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, January 21 <br />• Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting, January 28 <br />City Manager Corby Alexander added there would be a La Porte Development Corporation meeting on <br />January 25. <br />8.
