7. STATUTORY AGENDA <br />a. Presentation, discussion, and possible action to provide administrative staff with direction <br />concerning the Little Cedar Bayou Wave Pool Splash Pad project. [Tim Miller, Parks & <br />Recreation Director] <br />Mayor Pro Tern Engelken moved to give direction to accept option 2; the motion was seconded by <br />Councilperson Bentley: the motion was adopted. 9-0. <br />8. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS <br />• Drainage and Flooding Committee meeting, Jan 9 <br />• City Council meeting, Jan 9 <br />• Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, Jan 19 <br />• La Porte Development Corporation Board meeting, Jan 23 <br />• City Council meeting, Jan 23 <br />• Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting, Jan 26 <br />The City Manager reminded Council of the City Christmas party this Friday. <br />9. COUNCIL COMMENT Hear announcements concerning matters appearing on the agenda; items <br />of community interest; and/or inquiries of staff regarding specific factual information or existing <br />policy from the Mayor, Councilpersons, and City staff, for which no formal action will be <br />discussed or taken. <br />Councilpersons congratulated the Bulldogs, Nick Meekins, and Asst. Police Chief Doug Ditrich; <br />announced the Fencing Ad Hoc Committee had met and voted to open the application period for <br />January to March 2023; noted that the Mayor had presented a proclamation to Diane Sheridan, who <br />was retiring from the La Porte Citizens Advisory Committee after 25 years; shared that the East Harris <br />County Manufacturers' Association annual meeting, which was very interesting; regarding the Chapter <br />106 ordinance, noted that business owners can still open the types of businesses they wish to but will <br />have to come to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council; and wished all a Merry <br />Christmas and Happy New Year. <br />10. EXECUTIVE SESSION <br />a. Texas Government Code Sec. 551.071(1)(A) -Pending or Contemplated Litigation. The City <br />Council will meet in closed session with the City Manager and Assistant City Attorney to <br />discuss the status of City of La Porte vs. Darius Anthony Meza, Cause No. 2022-32341 <br />[Clark Askins, Assistant City Attorney; Corby Alexander, City Manager] <br />b. Texas Government Code Section 551.072 - Deliberation regarding the purchase, <br />exchange, lease, or value of real property. The City Council will meet in closed session <br />with the City Manager and Assistant City Attorney to discuss the purchase of vacant real <br />property legally described as Block 1254, Town of La Porte, and located adjacent to the <br />Bay Forest Golf Course. <br />The Council adjourned into executive session at 7:15 p.m. <br />11.
