Mayor Pro Tern Engelken moved to approve the compensation increase to <br />$20/hour for election workers for the May 4, 2024, City of La Porte and <br />LPISD election cycle; the motion was seconded by Councilperson Bentley; <br />the motion was adopted, 9-0. <br />6. REPORTS <br />a. Receive Report on 2nd Quarter Strategic Goal Update. [Matt Daeumer, <br />Assistant City Manager] <br />Mr. Daeumer provided the update. Teresa Evans provided an extensive <br />update on planning and inspection procedures. <br />b. Receive report of the March 11, 2024, La Porte Drainage & Flooding <br />Committee meeting. [Councilperson Martin] <br />Councilperson Martin said the Committee met, received updates, and set <br />its next meeting far April 8. <br />7. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS <br />• Planning & Zoning Commission meeting, March 21 <br />• Fiscal Affairs Committee meeting, March 25 <br />• La Porte Development Corporation Board of Directors meeting, March 25 <br />• City Council Meeting, March 25 <br />• Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting, March 28 <br />Mr. Alexander said there were no reports. <br />8. COUNCIL COMMENT <br />Hear announcements concerning matters appearing on the agenda, items of <br />community interest, andlor inquiries of staff regarding specific factual information <br />or existing policy from the Mayor, Councilpersons, and City staff, for which no <br />formal action will be discussed. <br />Councilpersons lauded the repaving of the recycling center area; expressed <br />appreciation of the planning updates; thanked all the volunteers who had offered <br />to work the elections; and shared the appreciation of those at the fundraiser for <br />Chief Ditrich on Saturday. <br />9.
