MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE <br />The City Council of the City of La Porte met in a regular meeting on July 13, 2024, <br />at the City Hall Council Chambers, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, <br />La Porte, Texas, at 12:30 p.m. <br />Councilpersons Present: Brandon Lunsford, Brent McCaulley, Bill Bentley, Rick Helton, <br />Jay Martin <br />Councilpersons Attending Remotely: Mandi Williams, Chuck Engelken <br />Councilpersons Absent: Robbie McLarrin <br />Council -appointed Officers Present: Corby Alexander, City Manager; Clark T. Askins, <br />City Attorney; Lee Woodward, City Secretary <br />1. CALL TO ORDER - Mayor Helton called the meeting to order at 12:37 p.m. <br />2. CITIZEN COMMENT (Generally limited to five minutes perperson; in accordance with <br />state law, the time may be reduced if there is a high number of speakers or other <br />considerations.) <br />Lisa Wright thanked the City for its storm efforts, encouraged an 'attitude of gratitude', <br />and said she planned to coordinate on outreach effort to serve linemen who have been <br />working in the community. <br />3. STATUTORYAGENDA <br />a. Extension of the July 7, 2024, Disaster Declaration - Presentation, <br />discussion, and possible action to approve an extension of the July 7, 2024, <br />Disaster Declaration for the City of La Porte, Texas, issued by Mayor Rick <br />Helton in connection with Hurricane Beryl. [Corby Alexander, City Manager] <br />Councilperson McCaulley moved to adopt Resolution 2024-14, approving an <br />adopted. 8-0. <br />b. Permit fees waivers for Hurricane Beryl -related items - Presentation, <br />discussion, and possible action to adopt Ordinance 2024-3999, for the <br />purpose of 1) suspending all permitfees forwork necessitated by Hurricane <br />Beryl and 2) suspending permit requirements for repairs to or reconstruction <br />of fences necessitated by Hurricane Beryl.
