Jim La Fitte. <br />The meetn~; •~as called to order by the Chairman, Keith Trainer. <br />The Minu=~s ~•= the January 13, 1983 meeting were read and approved. <br />Keith T=nine= requested that Mayor Cline give the Commission an <br />update o- t=_ trip she made to Austin for a TML meeting on upcoming <br />bills to be proposed during this Legislature. <br />Mayor Cline stated that she did not feel that an amendment allowing <br />Police Chie=s to appoint the top two police department positions or <br />the revision pertaining oral exams used in conjunction with pro- <br />motional exa-~s would necessarily be a good practice for smaller <br />police depart-~ents such as La Porte's. <br />A lengthy discussion followed concerning all proposed amendments, <br />with the Commission being in agreement that it would be a good idea <br />® to write our Senator and State Representative voicing the Commission's <br />opinions, witz J.im Longnecker making a motion to do so.
