City of La Porte <br />Comprehensive Plan Update <br />Steering Committee <br />Minutes of January 25, 1999 <br />Members Present: David Brady, Deotis Gay, Martha Love, Pat Muston, Chester <br />Pool, Imogene Pulleine, John Tomerlin, Betty Waters, John <br />Paul Zemanek <br />Members Absent: Roy Baldwin, Peter Griffiths, Barbara Jenks, Brian Moore, <br />Steve Valerius, Gary Wigginton <br />City Staff Present: Doug Kneupper, Masood Malik, Peggy Lee <br />Oath of Office administered to John Paul Zemanek by Peggy Lee, prior to start of <br />meeting. <br />I. Call to Order. <br />Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Vice -Chairperson Betty Waters. <br />It. Consider Approval of January 14, 1999, Minutes. <br />Motion by Martha Love to approve the January 14, 1999, Minutes. <br />Second by David Brady. All were in favor and the motion passed. <br />III. Receive Citizen Comments Regarding Assets, Issues, Improvements <br />and Priorities. <br />No citizens were present for comment. <br />IV. Discuss Preparation of Goals and Objectives. <br />Bret Keast distributed copies of "Introduction to Land Use Planning" to the <br />Committee. They discussed sample policy guidelines as they relate to six <br />land use planning categories. The Committee identified the top three <br />policy guidelines in each of the following categories: <br />General Land Use <br />1. Neighboring land uses should not detract from the enjoyment or <br />value of properties. <br />
