JAY MARTIN <br />Chairman <br />TREY KENDRICK <br />Member <br />CHUCK ENGELKEN <br />Member <br />BILL BENTLEY <br />Alternate Member <br />MINUTES OF THE DRAINAGE AND FLOODING COMMITTEE MEETING <br />JANUARY 11, 2021 <br />The Drainage and Flooding Committee of the City of La Porte met on Monday, January 11, <br />2021, at the City Hall Council Chambers, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, at <br />5:00 p.m. to consider the following items of business: <br />Committee Members present: Jay Martin, Chuck Engelken, Trey Kendrick, Bill Bentley <br />available <br />Committee Members attending remotely: None <br />Committee Members absent: None <br />Council -appointed officers present: Corby Alexander, City Manager; Lee Woodward, City <br />Secretary <br />CALL TO ORDER - Chairman Martin called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. <br />2. CITIZEN COMMENT (Generally limited to five minutes per person, in accordance with state <br />law, the time may be reduced if there is a high number of speakers or other considerations.) <br />There were no citizen comments. <br />3. STATUTORY AGENDA <br />a. Presentation, discussion, and possible action to approve the minutes of the <br />December 14, 2020, meeting. [Chairman Martin] <br />Member Engelken moved to approve the minutes; Member Kendrick seconded the <br />motion: the motion was adoDted. 3-0. <br />b. Presentation, discussion, and possible action regarding the Harris County Flood <br />Control District's (HCFCD) and Harris County Precinct 2's current and future plans <br />related to flooding in the City of La Porte. [Lorenzo Wingate, Assistant Director of <br />Public Works] <br />Jeremy Ratcliff of Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) attended remotely and <br />noted Alan Black was not able to attend. Lorenzo Wingate, Assistant Public Works <br />Director, covered the projects listed in the meeting packet. Regarding Brookglen, Member <br />Engelken asked that he and the City Manager have a meeting with Mr. Black. Member <br />Kendrick addressed concerns about dredging and the Valley View bridge. City Manager <br />Corby Alexander relayed that the City had not received a response from the City of <br />Pasadena regarding the City of La Porte's letter. Chair Martin asked for continuing <br />updates. <br />Presentation, discussion, and possible action regarding the status of current <br />drainage projects. [Lorenzo Wingate, Assistant Director of Public Works] <br />Mr. Wingate said 30% of preliminary work was complete, adding that he expected to <br />provide information to the Council at their January 25 meeting concerning the gate.
