In order to get a new project on the State or <br />Regional Water Plan, the regional plan would have to be amended. <br />In addition to the TWDB, FEMA also provides for federal • to • •-•• <br />out of flood -prone areas. HMGP funds can be used for: <br />• Acquisition/demolition/elevation of flood -prone structures <br />• Community and individual storm shelter programs <br />• Retrofitting facilities (flood proofing, high wind, etc.) <br />• Small scale structural hazard control/protection projects <br />• Limited funding of innovative projects such as public awareness, enhanced <br />hazard information systems, enhanced warning capabilities, etc. <br />• Limited funding of the development of state and local mitigation action plans <br />(MAPs) <br />Pre -Disaster Mitigation Grant Program (PDM) grants provide money for pre - <br />disaster mitigation planning, and the implementation of mitigation projects <br />•• natural hazards. Common mitigation projects include buy-outs, <br />individual • • safe-rooms/storm shelters and retention ponds. :• <br />grants require that the city or legal entity have a Mitigation Action Plan in place <br />
