(a) Flammable and/or combustible spray finishing operations shall not be conducted in buildings being used for assembly, educational, institutional or residential occupancies, except in a room designed for the purpose, protected with an approved system of automatic sprinklers and separated vertically and horizontally from other areas by construction complying with the requirements of the building code. (b) In other occupancies, all flammable and/or combustible finishing operations shall be performed in an approved spray booth. (c) Flammable and/or combustible spray finishing operations shall be prohibited in basements or sub-basements, except in approved spray booths and by written permission of the Fire Marshal.
