<br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CALLED REGULAR MEETING OF LA PORTE FISCAL AFFAIRS <br />COMMITTEE <br />January 28, 2008 <br /> <br />1. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Chuck Engelken at 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Members of Committee Present: Councilmembers, Howard Ebow, Chuck Engelken, Louis <br />Rigby, Barry Beasley and Tommy Moser. <br /> <br />Members of Committee Absent: None <br /> <br />Members of City Council. City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Manager <br />Ron Bottoms, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Controller Phyllis Rinehart and City <br />Secretary Martha Gillett. <br /> <br />Others present: None <br /> <br />2. Consider approval of Minutes of Special Called Regular Meetings of Fiscal Affairs Committee <br />held November 19,2007. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Beasley to approve the minutes as presented. A <br />second by Committee Member Ebow. The motion carried. <br /> <br />3. Finance Director Michael Dolby presented the quarterly credit card expenditure report. <br /> <br />4. Controller Phyllis Rinehart presented quarterly investment reports and provided an overview. <br /> <br />5. Interim finance Director Michael Dolby presented quarterly purchasing card expenditure <br />report. <br /> <br />Committee members raised the following questions: <br /> <br />Noted there are still many out of town purchases for small amounts for items that could be <br />purchased locally. <br /> <br />Questioned why we are paying workers compensation with purchasing cards? <br /> <br />Staff noted it was safety supply items purchased to avoid filing claims. Committee suggested <br />staff have the report indicate safety supplies. <br /> <br />Questioned why we are paying phone and Comcast bills with purchasing cards? <br />
