GOLF COURSE ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
MIf1UTES OF AUGUST ~, 1988
PAGE 3
• At this point Joel Albrecht brought up the fact that
there had been some mention of the deck on the
clubhouse. As he remembered from a previous meeting the
Board had made a recommendation that should sufficient
funds be available for the deck a recommendation would
be presented to the City Council that this deck be
added. David Brady said that this was correct. Joel
Albrecht said he just wanted to be sure in case the.
situation should arise in the future.
ITEM NO. 5: CABLE ADVERTISEMENT: Alex said he would like to
apologize, he had a lady that was to be here to meet
with the Board, but she had called about 11:30 and said
she was unable to make it today. Alex said what he had
checked into was "Storer Cable Television", they handle
the Clear Lake area and League City area. To run some
ESPf1 advertisement, would cost approximately $1995.00
per month (for a six month period). Alex said if the
Board would like to discuss this again at the next
meeting he would try to reschedule and have her
present. Richard EIayes asked if we could save that
advertisement or decision until we see what the play on
the course is going to be. If by Ncvember 1, 1988, the
play is not up to par, then we could explore spending
• some dollars on this type of advertisement, but on the
other hand if the play is good we don't need to spend
$12,000.00 on advertising. The remit of the Board felt
that this was the best way to handle this at the present
time.
ITEM N0. 6: DISCUSSION ON OPENING DATE/STARTING TEE TIMES: Alex told
,y the Board that the Saturday prior to August 27th, which
would be the 20th would be the best day for any member
of the Board that wanted to play golf to play. At this
point David said he felt we should also invite the City
Council, key staff members and go out, play the course
and then have a short session on any problems, etc. that
surfaced while playing. Jim Longnecker suggested that
this be a regular meeting of the Golf Course Advisory
Board. This was agreed to and Joel told the Board that
an official agenda would be posted. The meeting was set
for Saturday, August 20, 1988 at 10:00 AA9.
Alex said that on August 22, 1988 at 9:00 AM he was
going to start taking "Tee Tirnes" for the opening date
of August 27, 1988. The next Monday, he will start
taking tee times for the following Tuesday thru f~ionday
and so forth.
r~
U
