<br />LA PORTE AREA WATER AUTHORITY <br />OCTOBER 17, 1983 MEETING <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />The October 17, 1983 meeting of the La Porte Area Water Authority was held. <br /> <br />The following 3 members were present: <br /> <br />Al Fields <br />Cary Burnley <br />Travis Doughty <br /> <br />The following member was absent: <br /> <br />Jerry Bramlett <br /> <br />The following person no longer serves on the Authority and has moved from <br />the area: <br /> <br />Susan Gilliland <br /> <br />In the absence of the President and Vice President, Secretary Al Fields <br />called the meeting of the La Porte Area Water Authority to order at <br />6:05 p.m. <br /> <br />General Manager Jack Owen discussed the proposed annexations of the <br />College View M.U.D. and the Spenwick Place M.U.D. and the possible impact <br />on the Water Authority. <br /> <br />It was pointed out that these areas are within the boundaries of the Water <br />Authority and there will be little impact on the Authority other than to <br />eliminate the need for separate contracts for future water supply since <br />these districts will be a part of the City of La Porte. <br /> <br />The following persons from Turner, Collie and Braden were present: <br /> <br />Jim Adams <br />Neil Bishop <br />Shirley Webster <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />Information was presented concerning the projected water costs from various <br />surface water supply sources. The Board was informed that contacts had been <br />made with Shell Oil Company concerning the possibility of Shell selling <br />their water treatment plant to the Authority. <br /> <br />The Board agreed that negotiations with Shell to determine a possible <br />selling price should be continued. <br /> <br />There being no further business the Board adjourned at 7:15 p.m. <br /> <br />JO/llh <br />
