<br />LA PORTE AREA WATER AUTHORITY BOARD <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />November 5, 1986 <br /> <br />1. The meeting was called to order at 6:35 P.M. by President Jerry Bramlett. <br /> <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: President Jerry Bramlett, Vice-President Al Fields, <br />Secretary, Rick Matthews, Member Cary Burnley. <br /> <br />OTHERS PRESENT: City Manager Bob Herrera, Authority Attorney John <br />Armstrong, Acting Director of Public Works Steve Gillett, Neil Bishop <br />and Cecil Allen of Turner Collie & Braden. <br /> <br />2. Motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the meeting <br />held on September 25, 1986. It passed unanimously. <br /> <br />3. Mr. Bob Herrera was introduced to the Board and reported that he had <br />met with Ron Neighbors of the Harris-Galveston Coastal Subsidence <br />District. He also had a meeting with Lannie Lambert, City Manager, <br />City of Seabrook, on their plans for conversion to surface water. <br /> <br />4. The City Council of La Porte approved on November 3, 1986, the sum <br />of $10,000 to retain legal counsel for the La Porte Area Water.~uthority <br />whose functions will include the study of raw water contracts, the <br />study of the proposed Houston contract and advise to the Board on <br />which direction to take. Motion was made for the City Manager to <br />research and review attorneys well versed in water law and to provide <br />the Authority with several possibilities to choose from. Passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />5. Motion was made to elect new officers as follows: President - Cary <br />Burnley, Vice President - Al Fields, Secretary - Rick Matthews. <br />Passed unanimously. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS NOT ON AGENDA: Steve Gillett reported that on <br />November 12, 1986, at 7:00 P.M., the City of Houston and Friendswood <br />would hold a meeting at the Subsidence District to discuss the <br />Southeast Plant. <br /> <br />Also, DuPont has contacted Steve to discuss their raw water contract <br />with CIWA that they wanted to get out of. Copies of the contract <br />will be delivered on Friday. <br />
