<br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br /> <br />INTER-OFFICE MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />La Porte Area Water Authority DATE: December 11, 1986 <br />s~~ett, Public Works Director <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON DECEMBER 9, 1986 <br /> <br />This is toadvi~e you of the second informal meeting held on December <br />9-, 1~Hr6~~-at--City Hall to discuss surface water supplies with <br />representatives of various entities. <br /> <br />PERSONS PRESENT: From the City of La Porte - Mayor Norman Malone, City <br />Manager Bob Herrera, Director of Public Works Steve Gillett. From the <br />City of Seabrook - City Manager Lanny Lambert. From BAYMUD _ George <br />Mahlstedt, E. L. Tallichet, and Bill Gwaltney. From the La Porte Area <br />Water Authority - President Cary Burnley, Vice-President Al Fields, <br />A~torney John Armstrong. <br /> <br />Bob Herrera opened the meeting by explaining how these meetings came <br />about and that from the first meeting an agreement was made to keep the <br />lines of communication open between the La Porte Area Water Authority <br />and involved entities. He explained that per the La Porte Area Water <br />Authority minutes that there has been a lot of progress and that the <br />Authority is continuing to negotiate with the City of Houston. Bob <br />Herrera and Steve Gillett had visited with Jon Vanden Bosch from the <br />City of Houston concerning the Southeast Treatment Plant. At this time <br />Bob asked Steve to go over the points covered at this meeting. <br /> <br />Steve discussed changes that had been made to the proposed contract and <br />that he would be getting an updated copy within a week. There also was <br />discussion on the January I date as being in or out. That date was an <br />arbitrary one but they would at least like a letter of intent by then. <br /> <br />Lanny Lambert asked what direction the Water Authority and the other <br />entities would take as Seabrook is going to go with the Southeast <br />Plant. He also asked if the Authority or other entities would share in <br />the transmission line to Red Bluff or if the Authority would act as a <br />transmission company. It was decided these are valid concerns and <br />would be addressed. <br /> <br />Bob Herrera explained what the Authority was doing by hiring a water <br />attorney and that an initial response should be back by December 16 . <br />Since the La Porte Area Water Authority has a meeting scheduled on <br />December 17, it was decided for the entity representatives to meet on <br />December 18, 1986, at 5:30 P.M. at City Hall. <br /> <br />SG/lw <br />
