<br />... <br /> <br />LAPORTE AREA WATER AUTHORITY <br />MINUTES <br />FEBRUARY 13,2008 <br /> <br />1. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM by President Steve Valerius. <br /> <br />Members Present: President Steve Valerius, Vice President Paul Berner, Secretary <br />Chester Pool and Member Robert Roy. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Member Dennis Steger. <br /> <br />Others Present: Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Director of Public Works Steve <br />Gillett, Director of Finance Michael Dolby, Controller Phyllis Rinehart and Paula <br />Spiegelhauer of Pattillo, Brown & Hill. <br /> <br />2. The minutes from the meeting held October 22, 2007 were reviewed. Motion by Robert <br />Roy, second by Chester Pool to approve the minutes as presented. Motion was <br />unanimous. <br /> <br />3. Auditor Paula Spiegelhauer distributed copies of the Audit Report. She reviewed the <br />audit process, and stated that Pattillo, Brown & Hill was issuing an unqualified opinion of <br />the Authority's annual financial reports, which is the highest opinion that can be given. <br />She also reviewed the three (3) main sections of the Report: (1) Management's <br />Discussion and Analysis; Basic Financial Statements and (3) Supplemental Information. <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Finance Director Michael Dolby and the Auditor <br />answered questions from the Board. <br /> <br />4. Steve Gillett informed the Board that the City of Houston's Expansion and Improvement <br />Project at the Southeast Water Purification Plant was moving forward, and that the <br />Authority's share of the Project had increased from $542,880 to $586,560. Payment to <br />Houston would be made in two (2) parts, with the initial estimate due on March 20, 2008 <br />and the second payment due on June 18,2008. <br /> <br />Steve Gillett also briefed the Board on the upcoming SCADA Project and timeline. <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br /> <br />tj:her business, the meeting adjourned at 6: 16 PM. <br />/ <br />~U <br /> <br />C ester Pool, Secretary <br />~ <br /> <br />6.
