NANCY OJEDA <br />PRESIDENT <br />BRENT MCCAULLEY <br />COUNCILPERSON <br />AMANDA GERRISH <br />BOARD MEMBER <br />CHUCK ENGELKEN <br />COUNCILPERSON <br />DANNY EARP <br />BOARD MEMBER <br />JOHN BLAKEMORE <br />BOARD MEMBER <br />RICHARD WARREN <br />VICE-PRESIDENT <br />MINUTES OF THE LA PORTE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING OF JANUARY 22, 2024 <br />The City of La Porte Development Corporation Board met on January 22, 2024, at the City Hall <br />Council Chambers, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, at 5:00 p.m., with the following in <br />attendance: <br />Board members present: Nancy Ojeda, Richard Warren, Chuck Engelken, Danny Earp, John Blakemore, <br />Amanda Gerrish <br />Board members attending remotely: None <br />Board members absent: Brent McCaulley <br />Council -appointed members present: Corby Alexander, City Manager; Lee Woodward, City Secretary; <br />Clark Askins, City Attorney <br />1. CALL TO ORDER — President Ojeda called the meeting to order at 5.12 <br />2. CITIZEN COMMENT (Generally limited to five minutes per person, in accordance with state law, the <br />time may be reduced if there is a high number of speakers or other considerations.) <br />There were no comments. <br />3. PUBLIC HEARING AND ASSOCIATED MATTERS <br />a. The La Porte Development Corporation Board of Directors will hold a public hearing on six <br />(6) proposed Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) of the La Porte Development Corporation <br />for recreational or community facilities: 1 ) Fitness ;enter Parking Lot - $450,000.00; 2) <br />Inclusive Playground - $400,000.00; 3) Main Street Alleys - $425,000.00; 4) Wave Pool <br />Enhancements - $7007000.00; 5) Monarch Park Restroom - $200,000.00; and 6) Recreation <br />Center Phase II - $1,500,000.00; followed by discussion and possible action to approve the <br />following projects of the La Porte Development Corporation for recreational or community <br />facilities: 1) Fitness Center Parking Lot - $4507000.00; 2) Inclusive Playground - $4007000.00; <br />3) Main Street Alleys - $4257000.00; 4) Wave Pool Enhancements - $7007000.00; 5) Monarch <br />Park Restroom - $200,000.00; and 6) Recreation Center Phase II - $1,500,000.00. [Haley <br />Bowers, Department Coordinator] <br />President Oweda opened the public hearing at 5* 14 p.m. Haley Bowers provided a presentation. <br />There were no comments. President Ojeda closed the public hearing at 5.16 p.m. Member <br />Engelken moved to approve the following projects of the La Porte Development Corporation for <br />recreational or community facilities: 1) Fitness Center Parking Lot - $450,000.00; 2) Inclusive <br />Playground - $400,000.00; 3) Main Street Alleys - $425,000.00; 4) Wave Pool Enhancements - <br />$700,000.00; 5) Monarch Park Restroom - $200,000.00; and 6) Recreation Center Phase II - <br />$1,500,000.00; the motion was seconded by Member Warren; the motion was adopted, 6-0. <br />4.
