• Planning and Zoning Commission <br />Comments During: Main Street District Public Hearing <br />April 15, 2004 <br />- No setbacks. Limit storage. No containers on streets. Upstairs studio. <br />- Resident of Block 55 - 600 Block (EI Toro) for preservation, 400 to Broadway; 600 to 1461ess <br />control. Use of grant funds to restore historical buildings. City shouldn't tell property owners what <br />can/can't be done. <br />- Relax setback. Allow tin buildings. <br />- Parking is an issue. How will plans impact rental properties at 3`d and 8d' Streets? Relax <br />setbacks. <br />- Opposes District. Favors cleaning up properties. Remove setbacks. Find parking in area. Fix <br />sidewalks, street sweeping, and drainage on 2nd St. Lighten up on zoning. <br />- Enough rules and regulations. Drainage problems; dig out trench. Doesn't want to be told how to <br />do buildings. <br />- Parking is problem (need alley), but none available. Too strict. <br />- Parking is problem. Sidewalks. Awnings give character. No more rules and regulations. <br />- Want less regulation. Committee to move forward to take down "fences°. Would like to see a <br />positive approach of working together. <br />- Relax regulations. Not many new businesses. Shell alleys -City doesn't maintain or cover. <br />Lights in alley. Mow grass. Need ordinance to protect District from City and staff. <br />- Need more communication with owners on Main St. Place Main Street Committee minutes on <br />website. <br />- Opposed to regulations. Should not make all buildings look similar. <br />- Historian for Main Street Association willing to offer pictures. <br />- Premature to ask for "in favor" or "against." Committee will be good. Construct parking where <br />building burned. Need City, County, 8 State to get together. Control activity and building types. <br />- Expanded business, despite regulations. Sign regulations. Need to spread wont that La Porte is <br />a great place to live, shop, and work. Positive approach. <br />- Not sure if "for" or "against." Parking is a problem. <br />- Will donate lots next to Texaco if City will construct parking lot. <br />- Balance historic and business. <br />- GIS to get information out. _ <br />
