<br />2. The full governing body may defer recognition and order an election by the voters <br />regarding whether or not the City may meet and confer with the Association. <br /> <br />3. The full governing body may order a certification election under section 142.053 <br />paragraph 3 of the Local Government Code to determine whether the Association <br />represents the majority of the affected police officers. <br /> <br />5. Councilman Mosteit made a motion to the committee to recommend the full governing body to <br />accept the petition at the October 23, 2006 City Council Meeting as signed by the La Porte <br />Police Officer's Association and recognize the Association as the police officers bargaining <br />unit and not have to conduct an election by voters. Second by Councilman Moser. <br />Chairman Beasley also in agreement with motions. <br /> <br />6. The committee discussed providing a report from the committee to the full governing body <br />October 23, 2006, presentation of petition from La Porte Police Officer's Association and a <br />possible action item. <br /> <br />7.
