CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at approximately 2: 12 p.m. 2. MEMBERS FROM THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND THE LA PORTE POLICE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION (LPPOA) IN ATTENDANCE Ron Bottoms, City Manager John J oems, Assistant City Manager Ken Adcox, Chief of Police Heather Weger, Human Resources Manager Matt Novosad, Patrol Officer - LPPOA Member Matt Daeumer, Patrol Sergeant - LPPOA Member Sherman Moore - Patrol Officer - LPPOA Member Audience: Tom Barby, Robyn Gallion (walk-in after start of meeting) _. 3. MINUTES FROM JANUARY 22, 2009 WERE APPROVED. 4. OPEN DISCUSSION RELATING TO ITEMS PRVIOUSL Y INTORUDCED BY POLICE ASSOCIATION AND/OR THE CITY OF LA PORTE a) Police Association presented City with a revised version of the proposal the City presented at last meeting and a general discussion regarding such was held. b) It was established that a "market study" needs to be clearly defined stating which comparative cities will be used in the study and what percentage or mean will be used to determine where wages should be. Although a market study will be done each year, there can be no commitment from the City to implement the results. Resources (funding) must be available for implementation and there is no way to project if they will or will not be avai lable in future years. c) General discussion in regard to wages, merit based raises (no raise for needs improvement evaluations), education pay/celiificate pay, tuition reimbursement, college requirements, sick policy, physical fitness, longevity, schedules, compensatory time, hour pool for Police Officer's Association, contract renewal dates.
