Porte Planning and Zoning Commission <br />La Porte, Texas --- April 12, 1961 -- 7; 30 P1~~ <br />. ~ $ <br />Chairman Elsie Moore presided. <br />Commission members present were-;•E~Tell Brigham, Lois Compton, <br />Ruth Huddleston, Eugenie biller, Elsie Moore, George Norris, ti~Talter <br />Roberson, Fred Ruff, and Jerry Viniegra: Also present were; City <br />Commissioners; Dennis Dunham, Odell Brown, and Billy Stabs: The <br />members of the North Side Advisory Committee Dallas Aker, Rudell <br />Phillips, Earl Candler, and E.T: Taylor, were also in attendance: <br />The secretary read the minutes of the February i5, 1961 meeting: <br />Lois Compton made a motion seconded by George Norris that: The minutes <br />be Approved. <br />Notion Carried:e <br />Eugenie Miller discussed proposed changes <br />building permits. These proposed changes were; <br />1)~Add the words remodelling and moving to <br />2 List all buildings on the plot and show <br />3 State the intended use of the building, <br />4) Include an attest as to the accuracy of <br />3.n the application for <br />the permit, <br />them on the plot plan,, <br />Business or Personal,. <br />the information given:, <br />~~ <br />Nlr. Odell Brown gave the following report: <br />Mr. Brown stated that when he was making an investigation into <br />• the drainage in an area of La Porte he noticed a house being constructed <br />only 15 feet from the front property 1 ine : i~r : Brown approached the owner <br />on the fact that the house was in violation of the Zoning Ordinance: <br />N,,r_-. Brown said that the City did not want to be unreasonable but the <br />house was in violation of the ordinance and was not built as far back <br />as 27 feet which was indicated on the application for the building <br />permit. The property owner appeared before the City Commission, ~Ifter• <br />some discussion the mwner agreed to move his house back the required <br />distGnce:~ There were no hard feelings and the owner ap~aeared to feel <br />that he was dealt with fairly: Elsie Moore complimented dlr. Brown on <br />the handling of this case. <br />An application for selling Beer and Bait at 1004 Bayshore Drive <br />in a building owned by 1~Ir. Cade, was disapproved on the basis that it <br />does not comply with the Zoning Ordinance: <br />A moving permit request made by Norris and Stanford for moving two <br />small houses into block 3~1, facing 5th street, was disapproved: The <br />request does not comply with the requirments of the Zoning Ordinance: <br />A motion to adjourn was made by Ruth Huddleston and seconded by Eugenie <br />Miller. <br />La Porte, Planning and Zoning <br />Commission, <br />Attest; ..
