Kiibler being this date considered <br />by the City Council of the City of LaPorte, the following data is submitted <br />to the Council for its consideration: <br /> <br />Proposed Development by John E. Price, Jr., Trustee of Lots One through <br />Twenty, inclusive, in Block Eleven, Sylvan Beach Addition, Town of LaPorte, <br />Texas, being approximately 22 miles southeast of Houston, Texas, said site <br />having length boundaries of 500 feet and width boundaries of 266 feet, being <br />bounded by Jefferson Street on the northeast, Bayshore Drive on the southeast, <br />Sylvan Street on the southwest and Park Avenue on the northwest (Jefferson and <br />Sylvan Streets being at this point designated but unimproved and Bayshore Drive <br />and Park Avenue being asphalt-topped improved streets). It is proposed by <br />Price, Trustee that this site be developed by the construction of apartment <br />buildings containing thirty-sic units, which shall include twenty-four one-' <br />bedroom units and twelve two-bedroom units under four roofs. The two bedroom <br />units will contain approxiamate]y ]100 square feet each and the one bedroom <br />units will contain approximately 730 square feet each, this development pro- <br />posed to total in dollar expenditure between $300,000.00 and $500,000.00 and <br />to consist of the following construction break-down: <br />"A" Unit: 1020 square feet per apartment; <br />6530 square feet per building; total of 13,060 sq. ft. <br />"B" Unit: 63o square feet per apartment; <br />7560 pqusre feet per building; total of 15120 sq. ft. <br />Patios: 2600 square feet; <br />Mechanical Bldg: 1000 square Peet; <br />Wash, Dry, Storage: 35o square feet <br />Carports: 17 000 square feet; <br />Paved Walks: 760 square feet; <br />Paved Parking: 6600 square feet. <br /> <br />Upon the advent of the release of the plans for the $60 million manned <br />spacecraft center by the National Aeronautics & Space Administration for the <br />LaPorte area, a study wg,s conducted to determine if the area surrounding the <br />Spacecraft Center provided adequate dwelling facilities for personnel of the <br />Spacecraft Center and for potential personnel of presently-existing supporting <br />industries in the area. Based on the information gathered as set out below, <br />the LaPorte -Bay area was chosen for this apartment housing development. <br />The following information regarding the present status of the area was compiled <br />from various reliable sources interested in the area and include the LaPorte <br />Chamber of Commerce, N.A.S.A. and existing industrial firms. <br />~~f <br />~ ~L <br />
