Bri~-•ham, Lois Compton, <br />lair. V. I~. Calhoun, Mr D.0. Laird, N:r.H. E. Meeks, Mr. Bryan <br />P•:oore, 2Srs Elsie Moore, Ns George I•torris, Ifs Jack Oliphant, <br />Piss E. T. Preston, :t":r -~lalter Roberson, and I~~r Fred Ruff. <br />Visitors present were: l~:rs H. D. Barnett, Mrs C. A. Bowen, <br />i~ir H. D. Barnett, Mr C~. A. Bowen and i~ir Paul h~llltton~ and <br />Prr. C. L. Pitman (City Attorney; <br />N:r Paul Idhitton wanted to know what restrictions applied to <br />installing a used Auta Parts Business across the street from <br />Sharp Grain Company. Firs Elsie I:oore stated that there would <br />be no restriction except ]!~ "dunk" or inoperative vehicles had <br />to be maintained out of public view. This could be accomplished <br />by building a fence around the area to be used to dismantle the <br />vehicles. <br />P:r and :ass Barnett and lrs and Piss Bowen wanted to knoti:~ t~rhat the <br />restrictions ~vere pertaining to reopen'ng a Commercial "Drive In" <br />at 516 N. Bayshore. This property is zoned for Single Family <br />Duelling District. It was explained that the Zoning Ordinance <br />prohibited the reopening of this establishments In order to <br />reopen this establishment the ovrners would have to resort to <br />the Board of Appeals. This interpretation of the Zoning Ordinance <br />seas sustained by 2,Ir C. L. Pitman the City Attorney. <br />The Secretary read the minutes of the February 14, X962 meeting. <br />t~;r D. 0. Laird made a motion seconded by Mr George Norris that <br />the minutes be approved. <br />P•2otion passed. <br />The Secretary read the minutes of the Alarch 12, 1962 meeting. <br />R:rs Elsie r~:oore wanted added to the minutes that;• Pte' Price presented <br />an Architect's Sketch prepared by Architect Frank C. Di11, showing <br />the proposed project. t4'hen questioned by the Chairman, I:ra Elsie <br />T~oore, about the construction he sated th^t the exterior <br />v.*o::ld be of l~iexic~ n Brick and the Euilding will have fire t•:alls <br />of bridle, eight inches thick. The prcposed project will co~rply <br />Frith the Houston City building code. <br />D~'. C. L. Pitman suggested that the Zoning Committee consider what <br />should be done about the zoning of the area around 516 B. Ba~rshore <br />as•well as the area around"Bob and N:aries" and "Fete's Place'. <br />This area being Blocks 30, 31, 33, east half 305, and west half <br />294. ltilrs Elsie ~"_oore recommended that the members of the Zoning <br />Commission should go look at the area and be prepared to make <br />reco::mendations at the next meeting. <br />i P~.r. C. L. Pitc~an suggested that the Zoning Commission might want <br />to consider providin6 a building set bac'~ line along one or both <br />sides of "J" Street to provide for future extension of the Fairmont <br />Parkway. ~ • <br />
