Sikes, Ph.D. Prrsirlr•nt On behalf of Containerhouse, I would like to take this opportunity to explain our company's interest in establishing a small business in La Porte. [wellington Trade Inc., is a Georgia Corporation doing business as Containerhouse. Containerhouse buys ocean freight containers, conducts minor repairs on them to make them watertight and structurally sound, and offers the boxes for sale to exporters who wish to purchase such shipping containers for storage overseas after the export cargo arrives in foreign countries. We have been doing business for five years. Our Texas customers include Fluor (in Deer Park and Galveston), Brown and Root, Houston Oil and Minerals, and other firms with exports from Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas. We have negotiated a purchase contract with Mr. Russell Shepherd and Mr. J. L. Thompson, to acquire Block One Hundred Ninety-five (195), in La Porte, with the purchase contract contingent on obtaining suitable written permission .from the appropriate City Authorities to use the subject property for our business activities. The property in question is the block facing on East Main Street where La Porte Lumber Company formerly did business. It is in an area zoned commercial. On the opposite side of_ Main Street, a block or so to the west is the office, shop, and storage yard of Modular Offshore Systems, a company with similar activities to those we propose. Our operations at the Main Street address will include the storage, repair, and sale of ocean freight containers and the related trailers used in hauling them.
