~ G <br />Minutes, Public Hearing and Regular Meeting <br />La Porte Planning & Zoning Commission <br />September 6, 1984, Page 2 <br />Chairman Latimer asked if there was any discussion on the <br />matter. <br />Discussions were held about the location of the properties <br />on Spencer Highway. It was stated that the properties were <br />along Spencer Highway should only be suitable for commercial <br />establishments and not residential. <br />Mr. H. A. Pickens stated that he owned Lots 107, 106, and <br />109 along that strip of land and could not see how anything <br />other than a commercial business, could be feasible. <br />Chairman Latimer concluded the discussions on this item and <br />asked for a motion from the Commission. <br />Motion was made by Bruce Hammack to approve Mr. Alexander's <br />re uest to rezone Lots 1$ and l9, Block 1 of S enwick Place, <br />Section I rom residential to commercial to allow the <br />esta is ment o the commercia renta usiness. Second by <br />Lola Phillips. The motion carried, 5 ayes, 0 nays, 2 abstaining <br />(because of their absence). <br />Ayes: Latimer, Graves, Hammack, Phillips, Blackwell <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Karl Johnston, Charlie Doug Boyle <br />3B. Chairman Latimer continued the public hearing to consider <br />the request of Decker McKim to rezone reserve tracts E, F, G, <br />and H in the Brookglen Addition from single family residential <br />to commercial. <br />Chairman Latimer stated that Mr. McKim had called the City <br />Secretary's Office earlier in the day and had asked that his <br />request be removed from the agenda because he had had a conflict <br />that would prevent his attending the meeting. (A letter from <br />Decker McKim stating he wished to withdraw his rezoning request <br />from this agenda, is attached to these minutes for permanent <br />record.) <br />Chairman Latimer then closed the public hearing at 7:45 P.M. <br />and stated the Planning and Zoning Commission would now request <br />a public hearing of City Council on Mr. Alexander's request <br />and would make their recommendation in writing to City Council. <br />4. The Commission considered the preliminary plat approval of <br />Parkview Terrace Subdivision. <br />Director of Commmunity Development John'Joerns stated that <br />this item was placed on the agenda on this agenda, but that <br />all details had not been worked out with Carlos Smith and <br />therefore, asked the Commission to deny the preliminary plat <br />until such items were discussed and corrected. <br />
