• <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />OF THE <br />REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />LA PORTE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />MARCH 21, 1985 <br />• <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Doug Latimer at <br />.7:00 P.M. <br />Members of the Commission Present: Chairman Doug Latimer, <br />Members Lola Phillips, Janet Graves, Karl Johnston, Bruce <br />Hammack and Charlie Doug Boyle <br />Members of the Commission absent: Member Bobby Blackwell <br />Citv Staff Present: Assistant City Attorney John <br />Armstrong, City Engineer Bob Speake, Assistant City <br />Secretary Laura Hall <br />Others Present: Mr. Lloyd Avers, Eagles Lodge; Bob <br />Applegate, Contractor for Eagles Lodge; Ms. Barbara Neal, <br />Bayshore Sun; Mr. Fred Westergren <br />2. The Commission considered approval of the minutes of the <br />Regular Meeting held on March 7, 1985. <br />Motion was made by Bruce Hammack to approve the minutes as <br />presented. Second by Charlie Doug Boyle. The motion <br />carried, 6 ayes and 0 nays. <br />• Ayes: Latimer, Phillips, Graves, Johnston, Hammack, Boyle <br />Nays: None <br />3. The Commission heard and considered the request of the <br />Bayshore Aerie No. 2753 Eagles Lodge, La Porte, Texas, to <br />rezone Lots 17 through 32, Block 149, City of La Porte, <br />from residential to commercial to accommodate a parking lot <br />for the new lodge. <br />Mr. Lloyd Avers representing the Eagles Lodge spoke to the <br />Commission concerning their request. He stated that they <br />are ready to build their new lodge as soon as they have all <br />approvals necessary from the City of La Porte hopefully in <br />the spring. Mr. Avers stated that they plan to build on <br />the northwest corner of the existing property and build the <br />parking lot on the northeast corner of the property which <br />is currently zoned residential.
