Chairman Wilson moved to item 3 on the Agenda to Consider <br /> the Approval of the Minutes of the Regular Meeting Held <br /> on May 16, 1985, and item 4, to Consider the approval of <br /> the minutes of the Regular Meeting held on May 30, 1985. <br /> Commissioner Hammack made a motion to approve the minutes, <br /> Commissioner Boyle seconded. The motion carried <br /> Ayes: Boyle, Hammack, Graves, Blackwell, Wilson <br /> Nayes: 0 <br />4. Item 4 approved with item 3 above. <br />5. Chairman Wilson asked that a motion be entertained to <br /> vote on Beautification and Conservation and Open Space and <br /> Recreation Plans that were presented at the last <br /> Planning and Zoning meeting on May 30, 1985. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Blackwell made the motion that these <br /> plans be approved. Commissioner Hammack seconded. <br /> Motion passed with 4 ayes 0 nayes. <br /> Ayes: Boyle'; Hammack, Graves, Blackwell, and Wilson. <br /> Nayes: 0 <br />6. Andy Wilson asked that Mr. Bob Speake present the Community <br /> Facilities and Safety Plans. <br /> Mr. Speake, City Engineer, gave a brief synopsis of the <br /> Community Facilities and Safety Plans as was discussed <br /> in the attached memo. To keep up with the City's needs, <br /> expansions are planned for the library, city hall, airport <br /> and police and public works departments. <br /> A brief discussion of the proposed expansion of the airport <br /> drew comments from Commissioner Charlie Boyle. He said the <br /> prime concern should be safety and he also stressed the <br /> need for a lengthened runway, saying it should be 4,000 to <br /> 4,500 feet to accomodate larger aircraft and .to allow for <br /> pilot's error. He also said that better lights and <br /> improved instrument percision capabilities for landing are <br /> needed. It was suggested that 1`ir. Boyle meet with Steve <br /> Gillett, assistant direstor of public works, next week <br />
