CITY OF LA PORTE <br />INTER -OFFICE MEMO <br />TO: La Por Planning and Zoning Commission <br />FROM: D. u1issen <br />DATE: 01/10/86 <br />SUBJECT: Re -Zoning LTS. 15 & 16 Blk. 155, La Porte <br />The City has received an application from Mr. Gus Brieden for the <br />re -zoning of lts. 15-16, blk. 155 LP from their present "R-1" <br />Residential classification to "C" Commercial. The stated purpose of <br />the re -zoning is to make the property consistent with the <br />Comprehensive Plan. <br />The property in question is located at the Northeast corner of 2nd and <br />"H" street in a developed single family neighborhood. The site <br />presently contains a single story residential dwelling and is <br />• surrounded on two sides by residential uses. The East and South sides <br />abut vacant property. No proposed use is given in the request and the <br />reason for the request is to make the property conform to the <br />Comprehensive Plan. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The site faces S. 2nd Street on the front and nHn Street on the side. <br />A comparison to the Comprehensive Plan indicates that this property <br />should remain "R-1" Residential. The site in question is on the edge <br />of a totally residential area with no other commercial use in the <br />block. As mentioned above, no use is given for the property so <br />further analysis is impossible. <br />The re -zoning to Commercial is not consistent with the Comprehensive <br />Plan or proposed zoning map. <br />atoll) yy mIVAI 0 tel <br />The staff has reviewed this request with respect to the proposed <br />Zoning Map and Comprehensive Plan and find it to be in complete <br />non-conformance with them. Based on this information, the lack of a <br />proposed use and the residential character of the neighborhood, the <br />staff recommends that this request be denied. <br />0 <br />
