<br />1991 ANNUAL REVIEW OF ZONING ORDINANCE 1501 <br />CONTINUED DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS <br />FOR THE JULY 18, 1991 MEETING <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission, during its June 27, 1991 <br />meeting directed staff to prepare ordinance language permitting <br />residential front yard and side yard carports with a setback of. <br />five feet. The provisions for this are included in this report. <br />Also to be discussed is the language of Ordinance Section 4-400 <br />which deals with the zoning of newly annexed property and <br />portable sign regulations. Finally, included, but under separate <br />cover, is a report dealing with the Main Street area. <br /> <br />I. Carports: Staff, as directed by the Commission has prepared <br />ordinance language which will permit front and side yard carports <br />with a setback of five (5) feet from property lines. The first <br />step in developing regulations is to define the term carport in <br />order to distinguish it from other types of structures. Staff <br />would suggest the following definition for inclusion in Section <br />3-100. <br /> <br />CarDort: a roofed structure, free-standing <br />or attached to another structure <br />designed to provide covered parking <br />for vehicles. A carport shall have <br />no enclosing walls.
