• • <br />MINUTES <br />• PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING <br />APRIL 1, 1993 <br />Members Present: Chairman Betty Waters, Commissioners Dottie Kaminski, Inge <br />Browder, Wayne Anderson, Eugene Edmonds, Howard Ebow <br />Members Absent: Ronald Gragg <br />City Staff Present: Planning Director Chuck Harrington, Assistant City Attorney <br />John Armstrong, Chief Building Official Ervin Griffith, Planning <br />Secretary Peggy Lee <br />Others Present: None <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br />Meeting was called to order by Chairman Waters at 7:05 PM. <br />II. WORKSHOP ISSUES RELATING TO THE REGULATION OF <br />• A. PORTABLE SIGNS <br />B. ON AND OFF PREMISE SIGNS <br />C. REAL ESTATE SIGNS <br />Mr. Harrington gave a brief overview of the existing sign ordinance. This included <br />a slide presentation which showed various signs found throughout the community. <br />Staff noted what was felt to be the weak areas of the ordinance and provided the <br />Commission Members with alternative suggestions. <br />A few goals the Commission Members would like to see realized are: <br />1. All businesses in town to feel they are getting equal treatment. <br />2. Tighter control and enforcement of maintenance. Owner of sign to <br />assume ultimate responsibility. <br />3. Improve aesthetics. <br /> <br />
