• <br />Ordinance No. 1501- <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS AMENDING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1501, THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE <br />BY AMENDING SECTION 10-1006 - SUBDIVISION MARKETING SIGNS, <br />PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY FOR VIOLATIONS; PROVIDING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />WHEREAS, on June 23, 1997, the City Council of the city of La Porte, Texas <br />instructed the Planning and Zoning Commission to provide recommendations regarding <br />the use, placement, number and permitting of temporary advertising signs on weekends <br />only within the city of LaPorte. <br />WHEREAS, discussion of concerns for the marketing of residential homes in <br />La Porte by the Planning and Zoning Commission the following recommendations were <br />made to City Council: <br />Section 10-1006 Subdivision Marketing Signs <br />1. For the purpose of marketing a recorded subdivision, one (1) on premise <br />freestanding sign of not more than one hundred fifty (150) squaze feet <br />for each road abutting the respective subdivision shall be permitted, <br />provided that such sign shall not be placed within any required yard nor <br />within twenty-five (25) feet of any property line abutting a street or road <br />right-of--way, and further provided that such sign shall not exceed twenty <br />(20) feet in height. <br />2. For the purpose of marketing a recorded subdivision, one (1) off premise <br />sign of not more than one hundred fifty (150) square feet may be permitted <br />for each recorded subdivision in any zoning district. Such sign shall not be <br />placed within twenty-five (25) feet of any property line and shall not exceed <br />twenty (20) feet in height. The permit for such sign shall expire, unless <br />renewed, two (2) years after the date of issuance of such permit, and provided <br />that each request for permit shall be accompanied by a license and permit fee <br />posted by the respective sign hanger in the amount of three hundred (300.00) <br />dollars for the purpose of ensuring proper location, maintenance, and removal <br />of the respective sign. <br />3. For the purpose of mazketing a recorded subdivision within the jurisdiction <br />of the city of La Porte, temporary signs advertising the sale of said residential <br />
