Planning and Zoning C~ission • <br />Minutes of July 21, 1998 <br />Page 6 of 8 <br />The concept of accumulating railcars to make longer trains <br />and holding them for opportune times to cross Fairmont <br />Parkway was discussed. This would need to be coordinated <br />with the railroad's operating plan. <br />Mr. Toups reported there is a binding earnest money <br />contract at the title company with the Brookhollow <br />Corporation for 95 acres and options on the remaining 300 <br />acres. They are in their due diligence phase studying the <br />feasibility of the project. <br />During the past 45 - 60 days, the Brookhollow Corporation <br />has been negotiating with a tenant for Phase One of the <br />development. Grubb & Ellis have tenant prospects for the <br />other buildings. <br />When asked by Chairperson Waters if he would be willing to <br />have his team work with Harris County to try and obtain <br />funds for an overpass on Fairmont Parkway, Mr. <br />Haynesworth responded that it certainly was his intention. <br />2. OPPONENTS <br />There were none. <br />VI. CLOSE PUBLIC HEARING. <br />With the Commission's approval, Chairperson Waters left the Public <br />Hearing open until August 20, 1998. The Public Hearing will continue in <br />the classroom of the City of La Porte Recreation and Fitness Center, 1322 <br />S. Broadway, La Porte, Texas, at 6:00 PM. <br />The Commission took a short recess from 7:45 PM until 7:50 PM. <br />VII. DISCUSS AMENDMENT TO THE CITY'S CODE OF ORDINANCES, <br />ARTICLE 106, SECTION 106-522, TABLE B, MAXIMUM, HEIGHT <br />REQUIREMENTS. <br />Mr. Kneupper reported that PPG Industries is proposing to build a <br />pharmaceutical facility on their property east of the railroad and north of <br />Fairmont Parkway. The property is zoned Heavy Industrial and the <br />proposed use is allowed in that zone. The facility will require some piping <br />and related structures and be approximately 90 feet tall. PPG will be <br />required to provide a structure or enclosure around the tower. The Zoning <br />Ordinance limits building/structure height in all zones to 45 feet. PPG is <br />
