<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF AUGUST 17, 2000 <br /> <br />Members Present: Melton Wolters, Hal Lawler, Dottie Kaminski, Ross Morris <br /> <br />Members Absent: Betty Waters, Ralph Dorsett <br /> <br />City Staff Present: Planning Director Doug Kneupper, Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong, <br />Planning Secretary Peggy Lee <br /> <br />I. CALL TO ORDER. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by Vice-Chairperson Wolters at 6:05 PM. <br /> <br />II. APPROVE MINUTES OF THE MAY 24,2000, REGULAR MEETING. <br /> <br />Motion by Dottie Kaminski to approve the Minutes of May 24, 2000. Motion seconded by <br />Ross Morris. All were in favor and the motion carried. <br /> <br />III. APPROVE MINUTES OF THE JUNE 15, 2000, REGULAR MEETING, <br /> <br />Motion by Ross Morris to approve the Minutes of June 15,2000. Motion seconded by <br />Dottie Kaminski. All were in favor and the motion carried. <br /> <br />IV. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE PREUMINARY PLAT OF FAIRMONT PARK <br />EAST SUBDIVISION, SECTION EIGHT. <br /> <br />Planning Director Doug Kneupper presented staffs report. The preliminary plat for Section <br />Eight of Fairmont Park East was submitted by Eddie Gray. Section 8 consists of 4 blocks <br />and 56 lots on a 12.4793 acre tract. <br /> <br />Mr. Kneupper reported that the General Plan, which included Sections 5,6, 7, 8, & 9, was <br />approved by the Commission in April 1998. At that time, approximately ten acres were set <br />aside for storm water detention in Section 6, but the Final Plat for Section 6 reduced that <br />amount to approximately 8.5 acres. The following issues were noted regarding parkland <br />concerns: <br /> <br />· The Fainnont Park East Homeowners Association Board has previously contacted the <br />City regarding parkland issues. <br /> <br />· Staff contacted the Board to see if there might be an opportunity to work with the <br />homeowner's association in redesigning the detention basin to be usable park space. <br />
