A <br />uruerto ~aiinas summary of the basic development information for the application, or applications, is enclosed. <br />The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (the "Depaztment"), working with private <br />real estate developers, provides high quality, affordable housing opportunities for income qualified <br />Texans. The Department, under the Housing Tax Credit (HTC) Program, aids private developers in <br />building affordable housing using federal tax credits to fund new construction and rehabilitation of <br />multifamily residential developments. The value associated with the tax credits allows residences to be <br />leased to qualified families at affordable rents. <br />The Board will make its preliminary decision concerning the proposed development at its June 2004 <br />meeting and its final decision at its July 2004 meeting. The exact dates are not yet scheduled. The <br />Department will hold a series of public hearings in April 2004 to gather public comment on the <br />submitted applications. The Department welcomes input on proposed developments at anytime. Early <br />comment is particulazly helpful as the Department then has sufficient time to fully consider the input. <br />A timeline and a summary of the basic development information for the submitted application(s) is <br />transmitted with this correspondence.
