Planning and Zoning Commission <br />Minutes of May 20, 2004 <br />Page 11 <br />also like to receive input from affected residents and suggested conducting a <br />town hall meeting in the Lomax area. <br />The Commission recommended staff first conduct a town hall meeting and <br />then create a committee comprised of representatives from the affected <br />areas. Staff will begin preparation of a moratorium -to send to Council. <br />B. MAIN STREET DISTRICT <br />Mr. Finan updated the Commission on the progress of the Main Street <br />Committee. The Committee is considering•a mixed used district while <br />reviewing such issues as setback, activity, and height limitations. The <br />Committee wants to hold a public hearing. Staff will request an extension of <br />the moratorium.. Commissioner. Berner is a member of the Main Street <br />Committee. <br />C. . LA PORTE DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE <br />Mr. Finan reported that staff would begin review of the Development <br />Ordinance. Staff will look for inconsistencies and conflicts and will forward <br />their recommendation for changes to the Commission. Major -revisions are <br />anticipated. <br />D. 40% MAXIMUM LOT COVERAGE (SECTION 106-333, TABLE B) <br />The current Zoning Ordinance limits the maximum lot coverage to 40%. <br />There have been recent requests from residents wanting to exceed that <br />maximum amount. Staff is researching requirements for other cities for <br />comparison. <br />13. ADJOURN <br />Motion by Dottie Kaminski to adjourn the meeting. Second by Paul Berner.
