Plannin and Zonin Commissi• • <br />9 9 <br />Minutes of March 17, 2005 <br />Page 7 <br />ACCESSORY, AND SPECIAL CONDITIONAL USES, TO ALLOW SINGLE-FAMILY <br />DETACHED IN THE MAIN STREET DISTRICT. <br />Motion by Les Bird to recommend to City Council, approval of an ordinance amendment to allow <br />single-family detached dwellings in the Main Street District. Second by Paul Berner. The motion <br />carried. <br />Ayes: Bird, Berner, Meharg, Barrera, Kaminski and Muston <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />17. CONSIDER ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS RELATING TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF <br />TRUCK STOPS BY AMENDING CHAPTER 106, SECTION 106-521; TABLE A, INDUSTRIAL <br />USES TO ALLOW TRUCK STOPS IN BUSINESS INDUSTRIAL (BI) ZONING DISTRICTS. <br />(Item was tabled at the January 20, 2005 meeting.) <br />Mr. Sabo noted the proposed truck stop amendment is not a public hearing and is for discussion <br />only. At a previous meeting, the Commission directed staff to further research the development <br />of truck stops and return with a recommendation. Mr. Sabo provided staffs recommendation as <br />outlined in staffs report. <br />It was the general consensus of the Commission to accept the truck stop and convenience store <br />definitions developed by staff and to allow truck stops in the Business Industrial zoning districts <br />along Barbour's Cut Blvd. and State Highway 146. The matter will be brought back to the <br />Commission for a public hearing and a recommendation for City Council. <br />18. STAFF REPORTS <br />^ The Rural Large Lot District Committee plans to present their recommendation to the <br />Commission on April 21, 2005. <br />^ Mr. Sabo responded to an inquiry on the status of the apartments on Garfield. <br />^ Two shopping centers are planned; one along Spencer, east of the animal clinic and another <br />at the corner of Somerton and Spencer. <br />^ Mr. Sabo announced the promotion of Mr. Malik to City Planner. <br />19. ADJOURN <br />Motion by Dottie Kaminski to adjourn. Second by Paul Bemer.
