<br />Planning and Zoning Commission <br />Minutes of April 20, 2006 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Mr. Reed answered Commission questions. <br /> <br />B. ARCHITECTURAL AND BUILDING STANDARDS FOR NON-RESIDENTIAL <br />DEVELOPMENT <br /> <br />Mr. Sabo reported that City Council requested Staff to review possible controls for limiting the <br />number of metal buildings located along major commercial corridors throughout the City and <br />in the TIRZ. Mr. Sabo gave a slide presentation showing a sampling of buildings constructed <br />with varying degrees of architectural controls. <br /> <br />Russell Plank, with the Port Crossing development, spoke in favor of architectural standards. <br />Mr. Plank has served on several committees that have studied and developed standards. He <br />does not oppose metal building construction. <br /> <br />The Commission will workshop this item again at the next meeting. <br /> <br />11. CLOSE WORKSHOP <br /> <br />Chairperson Muston closed the workshop at 7:50 p.m. <br /> <br />12. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS <br /> <br />Mr. Malik <br />. Members attending the National APA Conference in San Antonio will depart on Sunday and <br />return on Tuesday. <br />. Plans for a shopping center to be located at Somerton and Spencer and plans for a Chili's <br />Restaurant. <br /> <br />Mr. Sabo <br />· Preliminary reports have been received on the Buxton Study. <br />. Staff has met with Mr. Plank several times this week to discuss the Port Crossing <br />development. <br />. Carrington Weems is contemplating a possible condominium development along the east and <br />west sides of Broadway at "R.n <br />· Sector 23 Plan is being updated. <br />· City Council approved a Development Ordinance amendment increasing fees paid for <br />parkland development. <br /> <br />13. COMMISSION COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mr. Barrera thanked Mrs. Waters and the Comprehensive Plan Review Committee for their hard <br />work. <br /> <br />14. ADJOURN <br /> <br />Motion to adjourn by Paul Berner. Second by Dottie Kaminski.
