Consider recommendation to City Council regarding Rezone Request #12-92000002 for property <br />located along North C Street from BI to I.I. <br />Motion by Commissioner Follis to recommend to City Council, approval of Rezone Request #12- <br />92000002. Open Public Hearing to receive citizen input on Rezone Request #12-92000003, for property located <br />at 3122 Underwood Road and tract along Andricks Road, further described as Lots 170 and 171-172, <br />Block 10, Spenwick Place, Section 2, William M. Jones Survey, Abstract No. 482, La Porte, Harris <br />County, Texas. Donald Wayne Giffin, Sr., property owner, seeks to have this property rezoned from <br />Low Density Residential (R-1) to General Commercial (GC) for proposed expansion of existing <br />business at 3122 Underwood Road. <br />Chairman Lawler opened the public hearing at 6:20 p.m. <br />A. Staff Presentation <br />City Planner Masood Malik presented the staff report and responded to questions from the <br />Commission. <br />Public hearing notices were mailed to 12 property owners within 200' of the subject property. <br />The City received one response in favor of the rezone request. <br />B. Proponents <br />J.B. Williamson, as legal representative for Mr. Giffin, addressed the Commission. The <br />business (Don's Radiator Shop) has been operating since 1983 and is doing very well. Mr. <br />Giffin, the owner, wants to utilize the lots in the rear of the building to enlarge the bays and <br />modernize the facility, with no additional ingress/egress planned for Andricks Street. Mr. <br />Giffin has discussed his request with at least 14 area property owners and all are in favor of <br />the plan. <br />
