Planning and Zoning Commission <br />Minutes of June 19, 2014 <br />Commissioners Present: Richard Warren, Helen LaCour, Mark Follis, Wyatt Smith, and Hal Lawler <br />Commissioners Absent: Phillip Hoot, Doretta Finch, Lou Ann Martin, and Les Bird <br />City Staff Present: Assistant City Manager Traci Leach, Planning Director Tim Tietjens, City <br />Planner Eric Ensey, GIS Manager Brian Sterling, City Attorney Knox <br />Askins, and Planning Coordinator Peggy Lee <br />1. Call to order. <br />Meeting called to order by Chairman Hal Lawler at 6:00 p.m. <br />2. Roll Call of Members. <br />Commissioners Warren, LaCour, Follis, Smith, and Lawler were present for roll call. <br />3. Consider approval of meeting minutes: May 15, 2014. <br />Motion by Commissioner Warren to approve the May 15, 2014, meeting minutes <br />Second by Commissioner LaCour. Motion carried. <br />Ayes: Commissioners Warren, LaCour, Follis, Smith, and Lawler <br />Nays: <br />4. Consider a recommendation for approval to the City Council of a request by the applicant Jose <br />Angel Sandoval Jr. (on behalf of the property owner Eddie V. Gray, Trustee) to rezone the <br />property known as Reserve 1 of the Fairmont Park East Business Park Reserves 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 <br />subdivision plat from GC, General Commercial, to R-1, Low Density Residential. <br />Chairman Lawler opened the public hearing at 6:04 p.m. <br />City Planner Eric Ensey presented Staff's Report for a request by Jose Sandoval to rezone a .809 <br />acre site along Farrington Boulevard to the east and north of Fairmont Parkway from General <br />Commercial to Low Density Residential for the purpose of constructing a single family residence <br />at some point in the future. The City did not receive any responses from the public notification <br />mailout. <br />Angel Sandoval, the applicant, requested favorable consideration of the rezone. Mr. Sandoval <br />does not plan to build a home on the property for another 2-3 years. <br />Chairman Lawler closed the public hearing at 6:19 p.m. <br />Motion by Commissioner Follis to recommend approval to the City Council for rezoning Reserve <br />1 of the Fairmont Park Business Park Reserves 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 subdivision plat from General <br />Commercial (GC) to Low Density Residential (R-1), subject to the condition that the applicant be <br />
