Due to the site location along
Fairmont Parkway, the development is required to comply with guidelines for Tier 3 buildings. The
applicant is requesting approval to use stucco-faced insulated metal interlocking panels in lieu of
traditional stucco.
Ippei Iwata, with Gray Construction, spoke on behalf of Kobelco Compressors. Mr. Iwata spoke
about a 30-ton overhead bridge crane that is an integral part of the business. When in operation,
the crane causes a significant amount of movement on the building, which ultimately causes cracks
in the masonry. Mr. Iwata provided a sample of the material being requested for substitution.
