• <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />LA PORTE REDISTRICTING COMMITTEE MEETING <br />MARCH 5, 2002 <br />Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Sidney Grant at 6:00 p.m. <br />Members of Redistricting Committee Present: Sidney Grant, Betty Stoumbaugh, Betty <br />Waters, Bernard Legrand, Kirby Linscomb, Jesse Wilson, Bob Capen, and Claudia <br />Zapata <br />Members of the Redistricting Committee Absent: Ed Matuszak <br />Staff Present: Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong and City Secretary Martha Gillett <br />Others Present: Councilpersons Jerry Clarke, Guy Sutherland and James Warren <br />2. Approval of Minutes of the Regular Meeting and Public Hearing held on December 11, <br />2001. <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Bernard Legrand to approve the minutes as <br />presented. Second by Committee Member Betty Waters. The motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Ayes: Sidney Grant, Betty Stoumbaugh, Betty Waters, Bernard Legrand, Kirby <br />Linscomb, Jesse Wilson, Bob Capen, and Claudia Zapata <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />3. Consider approval or other action regarding the final report to be submitted to City <br />Council. <br />The Committee briefly discussed the configuration of the report for Council to consider <br />the next step in the process, such as, a Public Hearing, accept as is, or address concerns, if <br />any. <br />Several members felt the Committee did the best they could as a citizen's committee <br />being apolitical, and they went strictly by the guidelines of the Council. However, they <br />realize the Council may want to do some tweaking to the district lines. <br />Motion was made b~Committee Member Betty Waters to approve the final report to be <br />submitted to City Council. Second by Committee Member Jesse Wilson. The motion <br />carried. <br />Ayes: Sidney Grant, Betty Stoumbaugh, Betty Waters, Bernard Legrand, Kirby <br />Linscomb, Jesse Wilson, Bob Capen, and Claudia Zapata <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />
