MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING OF
THE LA PORTE WRECKER COMMITTEE
NOVEMBER 10, 1992
The meeting was called to order at 2:00 P.M. in the Council
Chambers of the City Hall, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte,
Texas.
Attendees: Chuck Harrington, Lt. Aaron Corrales, Cherie Black,
City Attorney Knox Askins, Joe Camp, Jr., Keith Mainor
It was noted for the record that a quorum of the Committee was in
attendance.
Mr. Camp is applying for a wrecker permit for Joe Camp, Inc., with
Keith Mainor contracted to do the towing. Mr. Camp explained his
request to the committee and gave background information regarding
the previous permit holder.
Lt. Corrales reported that there are currently six active wrecker
permits, with a seventh permit in litigation.
Mr. Camp and Mr. Mainor satisfactorily answered all questions
contained in the wrecker ordinance which were pertinent to the
granting of a wrecker permit.
The City Attorney was of the opinion that seven wrecker permits is
sufficient for a city this size, and since there is a question on
the validity of the inactive permit, a new permit should be issued
to Joe Camp, Inc. The committee agreed with this statement.
Motion was made by Cherie Black to approve granting a wrecker
permit to Joe Camp, Inc. Second by Aaron Corrales. The vote was
taken and granting the permit was approved unanimously.
The permit will be issued subsequent to receiving a letter from Joe
Camp, Inc., stating that they have no interest in renewing the
inactive permit.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
D
•k .
VT10 TIT
Il- I1-961
